Firmware window

In Firmware window you can see firmware and bootloader versions of the actual device. You can also update firmware in your device using this window:

Updating firmware from server

If there is a new version of firmware published the tool can automatically download it and update your device. There are two ways how to do that: using a notification or manually.

If using the Standalone version of VR Tool, this functionality is not available. You can update the firmware only manualy – please see section Updating firmware from file.

Using notification
  • If there is a new firmware on the server the tool will show this window:
  • If you press Dismiss, the update will be canceled.
  • If you press Update, the update will start. Then you will continue as in section Updating firmware from file from step 3.
Manually
  • You can also manually check for firmware updates by pressing Search for updates button.
  • If there is an update available, you will continue as in Using notification section.
  • If there is not an update available, you will see this window:

Updating firmware from file

Step 1. Upload firmware
  • By pressing Upload firmware you initiate the upload.
Step 2. Select file
  • Select firmware file and select Open or doubleclick the file (you can get the latest firmware version from VR Tool folder).
Step 3. Confirm version
  • Confirm the selected firmware by pressing the OK button.
  • If you see the notice – “Selected version is older than current version” – please choose newer version of the firmware file (or continue if you know what you are doing). Otherwise it could lead to unexpected results in device’s behavior.
  • If you see the following window, you have selected a file that is not valid firmware file.
  • If you see the following window, you have bootloader version older than 2.0 and you are trying to update to firmware with version older than 2.0. These versions are not compatible.
Step 4. Update is being installed
  • After confirming the firmware version, the update itself will start.
  • You will see the progress in the progress bar.
Step 5. Post-update restart
  • After update the device will restart itself and finish the update process.
Step 6. Finish
  • After the restart the VR Tool will again show the main Firmware Window (see above).

Restoring firmware

If the device behaves strangely after firmware update, you can restore previous firmware.

Step 1. Restore previous firmware
  • By pressing Restore previous firmware button you initiate the restore.
Step 2. Confirm restore
  • If you press No, the restore will be canceled.
  • If you press Yes, you will confirm the restore.
Step 3. Device restart
  • If you have confirmed the restore, the device will restart.
Step 4. Finish
  • After the restart the VR Tool will again show the main Firmware Window (see above).
