Quick Settings

The Quick Settings section of VRG Tool allows you to easily change some of the headset related settings. This section is available on most VRG Tool pages (except the Setup Wizard).

  • Connected device
    • If the headset is connected it will show the model name and headset picture.
    • If no headset is connected it will show a link to Setup Wizard. The rest of the Quick Settings section will not be available if no headset is connected.
  • Eye Tracking Calibration icon
    • Clicking this icon will start the eye tracking calibration process.
    • If the Simple eye tracking calibration is selected it will start one-point calibration. If the Advanced eye tracking calibration is selected it will start seven-point calibration. You can change the eye tracking calibration type on Settings – Headset – Eyes page.
    • After eye tracking calibration successfully completes you can start the eye tracking itself either through the Eye Tracking switch below, or use detailed options on Settings – Headset – Eyes page.
  • Reset Headset icon
    • Clicking this icon will reset/restart the headset.
    • Be aware that resetting the headset will close the connection between the headset and any running VR applications, so we recommend closing all VR applications first.
  • Setup Wizard icon
    • Clicking this icon will start the Setup Wizard, which will lead you through the connection and setup of the headset.
  • Auto IPD icon
    • Clicking this icon will start the Auto IPD process, which measures the eye distance and automatically adjusts position of the lenses.
  • Position Calibration icon
    • Clicking this icon will use the current headset position as origin (0,0,0) for your VR space.
    • When using a room scale application with 0 floor level, we recommend placing the headset on the ground and then pressing this icon.
    • The position calibration will not work if you are using the SteamVR Driver, as in that case the VR space is configured through SteamVR itself.
  • VR View switch
    • Shows or hides the VR View window, which contains the final rendered image as it is displayed inside the headset.
  • Virtual Desktop switch
    • Shows or hides the OS desktop inside the headset.
    • It can be used to easily view and control all applications on your PC (using standard mouse and keyboard setup for control)
  • Eye Tracking switch
    • Allows enabling or disabling the eye tracking.
    • Eye tracking can be either used for foveated rendering (if VR application supports it), or the eye tracking results can be visualized in real-time (accessible on Settings – Headset – Eyes page).
  • Mixed Reality switch
    • Allows enabling or disabling the mixed reality, which shows a real image from the mixed reality cameras inside the headet.
    • This functionality is only available on headset equipped with mixed reality cameras (for example XTAL 3 NEO), otherwise an info icon will be shown and the switch will be disabled.
    • You can access additional mixed reality options on Settings – Mixed Reality pages.
  • Render Resolution
    • Shows current software resolution and allows changing it directly with the slider.
    • If any VR application is currently running, this section will also show calculated pixel resolution and status of foveated rendering.
  • Current IPD
    • Shows current IPD values for left and right eye, and allows changing them directly with the slider.
    • When you move the slider, both left and right IPD will be set to the same value (symmetrically).
  • Current FPS
    • Shows current FPS value and a simple graph showing FPS change from last few minutes.
    • This information is only available when a VR application is running, otherwise it will show 0 value.
  • Application
    • Shows name of currently running VR application.
    • This information is only available when a VR application is running, otherwise it will be empty.
    • If you are using the SteamVR Driver, the application name will show “VR Server” or “VR Compositor”. If you want to see which end application is running, you’ll need to check the main SteamVR window instead.
