4.0.0
March 22nd, 2025
- Redesigned VRG Tool UI
- Previously only the hardware related settings were included in VR Tool (version 3.3.2 and older), and all runtime/software related settings were accessible through separate tray icon / runtime settings menu. With the VRG Tool 4.0.0 release all settings are now available through one optimized UI.
- New UI contains:
- Homepage overview
- Shows all important headset/software information (model, firmware, software versions, FPS, running application, etc.).
- Allows easy access to basic headset settings (resolution, IPD, mixed reality, etc.).
- Setup Wizard
- Can be used for first time setup or to check if the headset is fully compatible with your PC.
- Settings page
- Contains all headset related settings (for example screen options, firmware update, advanced profile options, eye tracking calibration and visualization, mixed reality masking options etc.).
- Documentation page
- Contains direct links to user guide on our portal website (https://portal.vrgineers.com/user-guide/).
- Simulators page
- This page can be used to setup and control the VRG Simulator Platform. Only available for customers who purchased custom Vrgineers simulators/trainers.
- Homepage overview
- Updated VRG service to version 2.6.1
- Fixed issue with device reconnection events.
- Added IPD recalculation from motor units to meters (used for direct IPD control when no VR application is running).
- Added separate runtime registry service for software related settings.
- Other stability improvements and fixes.
- Updated VRG runtime to version 4.8.3
- Support for new runtime registry service.
- VR View optimizations.
- Option to disable spacewarp functionality on demand.
- Mixed reality color enhancer.
- Other stability improvements and fixes.
- Updated SteamVR driver to version 2.9.10
- Stability improvements and fixes.
- Known issues:
- VR View with enabled warping visualization shows upside down and squished image.
- When using SteamVR driver, warping visualization is always enabled, so we recommend using VR View functionality from SteamVR app instead of the VRG Tool VR View.
- Mixed reality blending is limited to 99%.
- VRG OpenXR Runtime is not compatible with Unreal Engine 5.2 and newer.
- For now we recommend using either SteamVR plugin or SteamVR OpenXR runtime with those versions of Unreal Engine.
- ART tracking may cause crashes on some setups.
- VRG runtime is not compatible with Nvidia 50xx generation GPUs, causing black screen issues.
- SteamVR driver crashes when eye tracking is manually enabled from the VRG Tool menu (eye tracking Autostart works correctly).
- VR View with enabled warping visualization shows upside down and squished image.
- Notes:
- VRG Tool 4.0.0 uses different installation folder, program name, and shortcuts, than the older version (VR Tool 3.3.2). We recommend manually removing the older VR Tool app from your PC, and to only use the new VRG Tool instead.
- VRG Tool 4.0.0 uses different configuration files than the older version, so most of the settings will not be automatically applied to the new version. This means that you will need to manually reconfigure your XTAL settings in the new VRG Tool UI.
